On October 9, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson dedicated the new Shrine to the Holy Family at Cedar Lake in Foristell (map link); about 350 people attended the dedication. This new shrine is part of the Cedar Lake Foundation's Family Center, whose mission is to help individuals and families grow in Christian love, human virtues, and family life as modeled in the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary and Joseph).
The Family Center will offer men's and women's spiritual activities including days and evenings of recollection, weekend retreats, doctrinal classes, and spiritual direction and confession. Opus Dei, a personal Prelature of the Church has been entrusted with the spiritual dimension of Cedar Lake.
The Cedar Lake Foundation is asking for one-time gifts or pledges to help with the design and building of the Family Center and a new Conference Center, which will provide overnight accommodations for retreats and workshops.
You can find more information about the Cedar Lake foundation on their website. The St. Louis Review recently wrote about the Holy Family Shrine, and how it is meant to emphasize family love.
